Fundraising and Engagement support ends on 31 December 2026.
Microsoft is retiring Fundraising and Engagement, its charity CRM for Dynamics 365. If your charity still runs on it, your donor, gift and campaign data needs a new home, and the sooner you know where, the less it will cost.
What Microsoft has announced
Support ends on 31 December 2026
After that date Microsoft no longer supports Fundraising and Engagement. Until then it gets critical security fixes only, and no new features. New licences stopped on 1 January 2025.
Uninstalling deletes the data
Removing the solution without migrating first deletes what's in it. Microsoft's own guidance is to migrate everything before you uninstall anything.
The replacement is changing too
Microsoft's Fundraising and Grant Management template apps lose Microsoft engineering support from 1 February 2027. Microsoft recommends rebuilding from its open-source code with a partner.
There's an Azure side to it
Recurring gifts and financial summaries run on Azure services deployed alongside the solution. Those need a plan as well, not just the CRM tables.

How we'd move you
- 01
Assessment
A fixed-price look at what you actually use: your customisations, payment processors, Gift Aid, reports and the integrations around them. You come away with a dated plan and a price.
- 02
Choose where to go
A Dataverse model built around how you fundraise, the open-source Fundraising template, or another platform. We'll tell you which fits, even when the answer isn't us.
- 03
Migrate and check
Donors, gifts, pledges and campaigns are moved and reconciled against the old system, so every total still adds up.
- 04
Retire it safely
Fundraising and Engagement and its Azure services are removed in the right order, once nothing depends on them.
Charity data we've built
A regulated charity serving 20,000 to 30,000 members
We designed the data platform behind a membership charity's Dynamics CRM: automated ingestion, deduplication and a full audit trail, which we ran as sole technical authority for more than two years.
Why us
We migrate CRM platforms for a living
Including one being retired right now. See how we do it.
We know how charities work
Between us we've built for a regulated membership charity and a national sight-loss charity, so we know trustees and auditors ask different questions from shareholders.
Common questions
When does Fundraising and Engagement support end?
Microsoft ends support at 11:59pm Pacific Time on 31 December 2026, which is the morning of 1 January 2027 in the UK. Until then it receives critical security fixes only.
What happens if we do nothing?
Microsoft stops supporting and patching it, so any problem after that date is yours to fix. Your data also stays tied to a solution you can't safely remove until it's migrated.
Can we stay on Dynamics 365?
Yes. Most charities can keep Dynamics 365 and Dataverse and move their fundraising data into a model that's supported. The assessment tells you whether that's the right choice for you.
Is there time before the deadline?
For most charities, not to finish a migration. But an assessment now tells you your real risk, and gives you a dated plan and a price before support ends.
